Odds and ends

I’ve been messing about checking through some of my picture files from this year instead of getting on with those all-important festive preparations – so, no snow, no red and green but a glimpse of some of vintage pattern and textures in various forms, beginning with an understated doorway in Hay-on-Wye and following on with some detail from Welsh quilts in Jen Jones’ private collection.  A reminder too, that if you enjoy Welsh quilts in all their glory, then you’ll want to visit Pippa Moss’s blog Welsh Quilts and also Mary Jenkins’ blog Little Welsh Quilts and Other Traditions.

And here’s my winner for Attention to Domestic Detail – this was the bespoke (feline) entrance and exit at a wonderful farmhouse I stayed in earlier this year –

Don’t you just love ingenuity and imagination?!

  1. Beautiful examples of quilting! I travelled through Marseille yesterday and window shopping in Carcassonne last night I saw some wonderful examples of local styles … but how do you fit such things in a suitcase? Maybe it’s good job I’m leaving before shops open this morning, but it’s disappointing not to be able to bring a small example home for inspiration … but then here’s your blog post — hanks!
