Tribute to Di Huck

The death was announced last week of Dianne Huck.  Di co-founded and edited the first British patchwork and quilting magazine, co-founded and organised one of our longest-established quilt shows, Quilts UK, and founded one of the first UK quilt travel companies P&Q Tours.  Never one to seek the limelight, Di was happiest organising and problem-solving behind the scenes for more than 30 years.  She was a generous and loyal friend to many, and so many of us have so much to thank her for.  At times like this words don’t come easily and don’t always sound right – Di will be warmly remembered and sadly missed.

  1. What a shock this was to hear about Dianne, such a wonderful lady, her and Elaine helped me in my early years of showing my quilts, their magazine was a forerunner to all other mags now available her in UK. The Malvern show was the best quilt show in UK as far as I am concerned, you felt you were with family. She, like Elaine will be sadly missed.

  2. As the Show Manger of the British Quilt & Stitch Village and colleague of Di at Traplet , I plan to have a section of a room dedicated to Di’s memory at our show , 26-28 April at Uttoxeter Racecourse. Her wonderful collection of quilts/memorabilia and early issues of Patchwork & Quilting will be on display for all her friends and fellow quilters to enjoy.

Di was a special lady to many of her colleagues at Traplet Publications and she was a great help to us regarding ideas for our British Quilt & Stitch Village show . It is extremely sad that she will not now be there in person with us but I know that it would have given her great joy to know that many others will be able to share her love of all things quilting. There will be a “Memory Book ” for those who wish to share any happy memories of Di and for those who may wish to express their thanks to her for inspiring them ..this will be given to her family after the show.
